Nigerian singer and producer JJC has made serious allegations, claiming that a group of influential early-career associates, including Don Jazzy, D’banj, Ayo, and DJ Abass, conspired against him.
JJC recounted that after arriving in Nigeria as a newcomer (“JJC”), he approached the group for help navigating the industry. “I came to them and said you guys are obviously well connected in Nigeria, and I’m a JJC. I need somebody to introduce me to the right people to work with,” he stated. He says they agreed and connected him with a contact named Bankuli.
However, JJC alleges that while collaborations happened Don Jazzy recorded a song with him and D’banj had his own separate deal the veterans had undisclosed plans that excluded him. The situation escalated when, according to JJC, fellow artist Ruggedman informed him that D’banj was telling people, “I’m not paying them, I’m cheating them.”
JJC forcefully rejected this characterization of their relationship, countering, “Nobody knows you, bro. I take you to shows, buy your clothes, food, you even live in my house and I take you everywhere. How can I be cheating you when you haven’t made any money?”
These revelations provide a rare glimpse into alleged behind-the-scenes tensions, hidden agendas, and feelings of betrayal during a formative period in the Nigerian music industry.
