The Lagos State Government has called on online reporters to maintain high levels of professionalism and adhere to the core principles of journalism.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Olumide Sogunle, stated this during a meeting with the leadership of the Online Reporters Association of Nigeria (ORAN) at the Ministry of Information and Strategy’s Conference Room.
It reads:
“Mr. Sogunle, acknowledged the vital role online media plays in shaping public opinion and disseminating information, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to supporting online reporters in promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
“The President of the Online Reporters Association of Nigeria (ORAN), Mr. Tijani Adegbola commended the State Government efforts in promoting press freedom and access to information.
“The two parties’ discussions centered around enhancing the capacity of online reporters through training and addressing challenges in the field.
“Both agreed to foster a collaborative relationship, leveraging new media to promote a more informed citizenry.
“The Ministry pledged support for training and capacity building. The courtesy visit marked the beginning of a fruitful partnership between the ministry and ORAN which can potentially pave the way for a vibrant and responsible media landscape in Nigeria.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
