Troops of Nigerian Army Joint Task Force, North-East Operation Hadin KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with the air component, have successfully eliminated nine Boko Haram terrorists, including two top field commanders, in a coordinated military offensive across parts of Borno State.
A military source familiar with the operations confirmed that the successful missions took place between August 21 and August 22, targeting planned terrorist attacks on Bita and Wulgo communities.
Among those killed were two notorious commanders:
• Abu Nazir, the Munzir (field commander) of Juye
• Abu Fatima, the Munzir of Koloram
“These commanders were neutralised during a fierce gun battle in the Wulgo axis,” the source disclosed, adding that troops recovered AK-47 rifles, a cache of ammunition, and six motorcycles used by the insurgents.
The military high command has commended the troops for their bravery and operational efficiency, encouraging them to maintain momentum in the fight against terrorism in the North-East region despite ongoing challenges.
This latest success is seen as another strategic blow to the Boko Haram insurgency, which has plagued Nigeria’s North-East for over a decade.
