Tanker carrying diesel overturned and went up in flames on Sunday afternoon at Iyana-Isolo along the Apapa–Oshodi Expressway, triggering panic among residents and motorists while causing heavy traffic on the busy route.
Eyewitnesses said the tanker, suspected to have suffered brake failure, rammed into a commercial bus before skidding into a roadside gutter and exploding.
The driver and his assistant sustained injuries of varying degrees.
Emergency agencies, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and the police, swiftly responded to the scene.
They battled the blaze and worked to restore calm and ease traffic congestion.
