Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has voiced frustration over Nigeria’s rising electricity costs, revealing the heavy expense he incurs daily to keep his home powered.
Speaking during an interview on Africa Independent Television (AIT), the respected actor said the cost of powering his household has become a major burden.
According to him, “I pay ten thousand naira for light every day in my house. Then I spend additional thirty thousand; twenty for diesel, ten for fuel. On the whole, I spend forty thousand every single day on light. It disturbs me a lot.”
The actor said the situation reflects the broader hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians who struggle daily with the country’s electricity challenges.
Edochie also criticised politicians, accusing many of entering politics mainly to enjoy power rather than serve the people. He said, “Nobody seems to be bothered about what is happening to the common man.”
