Antonio Conte, the former Inter Milan manager, has accused Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel of failing to play to Romelu Lukaku’s skills.
Conte was speaking ahead of Chelsea’s 1-0 Champions League loss to Juventus on Wednesday night.
When they worked together at Inter for two seasons, the Italian brags about the effort he did to develop Lukaku.
“A coach is good if he can improve players. I think we did great work with Romelu over two years.
“He is a very specific striker. Bringing Lukaku into the box is dangerous. However, when he starts from midfield, he is incredibly quick. It’s very difficult to find a player who is both a target man, but can also run from midfield.
“These are also characteristics I can see in Erling Haaland. I had been tracking Lukaku for a very long time and wanted him when I was at Chelsea, even when he was at West Brom,” Conte told Sky Italia.
Lukaku has now failed to score in Chelsea’s last two matches against Manchester City and Juventus.
