prominent Shi’a Muslim leader in Nigeria, and head of Nigeria’s Islamic Movement, Sheikh Ibrahim El-zakzaky has being under state detention in the nation’s capital Since December 2015, pending his release, which was ordered in late 2016.
It can be recalled that the Federal Government had ordered the release of former national Security adviser, Sambo Dasuki and the convener of RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore on December 24th which prompted many to ask: When will the Nigerian government release the leader of outlawed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim El-zakzaky from custody?
The Nigeria’s Justice minister, Abubakar malami said, the Federal Government doesn’t have powers to interfere with the judicial process of state government, this the minister made known in his interview with the Hausa service of the BBC.
Henceforth, the federal government won’t interfere in a judicial process that’s solely responsible for the state government to take charge of.
The federal government had over time maintained that it is not detaining el-Zakzaky, saying rather he’s being prosecuted by the Kaduna state government.
