A former sales executive, Hillary Okechukwu who was working with a Lagos-based broadcaster, Wazobia FM, died of suspected suicide after losing his job.
According to his colleagues, the deceased was asked to resign after being accused of misappropriating company funds on the 18th of November 2020.
Mr. Okechukwu who worked at Wazobia FM for 10 before his sack suffered cardiac arrest from drug overdose on Friday.
According to an internal source under anonymity, the station’s management held an urgent meeting on Saturday night to discuss the matter, but officials largely used the meeting to clear themselves of any wrongdoing in the circumstances that led to Mr. Okechukwu’s exit and his eventual death.
The source further affirmed that the deceased did not appear to suffer from any mental health crises before the incident.
It is without doubt that the stages of grief in the wake of a job loss are much the same as the model of key emotional reactions to the experience of dying. This was the same case as Mr Okechukwu who did not only lost his job but was accused of misappropriation.
Though at the time of this report, the Management of Wazobia FM has not given an official statement concerning the ugly incident.
