The University of Ibadan, UI, gets new Acting vice Chancellor after the University face alot of crises over the VC selection process.
University’s senate reconvenes on Monday, 30 November and elected a Acting Vice Chancellor, in person of Professor Adebola Babatunde Ekanola.
The acting VC who was the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics clinched the acting capacity after five Professors had indicated interest in succeeding the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka whose tenure expired on the 30th of November, 2020.
Ekanola scored 275 votes to defeat four other rivals, Professor Olanike Adeyemo who scored 13 votes, Professor A. Oluleye who got 80 votes, Professor Adigun Agbaje who got 15 votes and Professor Gbemisola Oke who got 14 votes.
This is coming after the Ministry of Education through the National Universities Commission directed the Senate of the University to select someone for the position of acting Vice Chancellor of the University.
