The United Nations has tabled a $1bn appeal in Abuja,Nigeria’s federal capital to help citizens in need of charitable aid in the Northern part of Nigeria.
The Islamist terrorist group known as Bolo Haram has been launching uncountable attacks in the Northern part of the country for about 11 years ago.Over 30,000 people are dead and many displaced as a result of the continuous terror attack by the militant group.
According to the UN,despite the rate of humanitarian assistance that have been rendered,the situation remains extremely serious.
It archived nearly nine million severely vulnerable citizens in the area in need of help.
However, the the response from the international community the year is aiming at about 6.5 million people to be catered for in the affected northern states of Nigeria.The states include Yobe,Adamawa and Borneo states.
The United Nations and the Nigerian Government stressed that the effect of the COVID 19 pandemic has made the humanitarian crises more worse.
