- FG Increases Electricity Charge By 50%
Revealing this in a statement in Abuja, on Thursday, the minister said that the reversal to the old tariff was to promote a constructive conclusion of the dialogue with the Labour Centres.
The statement reads:
“I have directed NERC to inform all DISCOs that they should revert to the tariffs that were applicable in December 2020 until the end of January 2021 when the FGN and Labour committee work will be concluded.
“This will allow for the outcome of all resolutions from the Committee to be implemented together.
Reports came in Tuesday morning that NERC increased electricity bill by 50%, the report which the NERC later denied.
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, also came out to make clarifications, stating that the Federal Government didn’t increase electricity tariffs but adjusted some bands for users to pay what they are supposed to pay.
