The creator and director of “Squid Game,” Hwang Dong-hyuk, has announced that the Netflix TV series will return for a second season.
This was revealed by Dong-hyuk during an interview at a series event unveiling a storyline twist for the second season.
Gi-hun, one of the show’s main protagonists, will be returning to do “something for the world,” he said.
Despite the fact that most South Korean programs conclude after one season, the director indicated that the crew has no option but to develop a second season based on the series’ success.
“I almost feel like you leave us no choice,” he said.
“There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season.”
He stated that the second season is already in the works, he said, “It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen. So I will promise you this, Gi-hun will be back and he’ll do something for the world.”
