Stray bullets fired by security officials who were chasing a driver killed a mother of four while a young man was injured in Asaba, Delta state.
The bullets were fired by officers from the newly formed security unit, Operation Delta Hawk, which led to the death of the woman on Tuesday, December 22.
The security officers were chasing a driver identified as Joshua who allegedly refused to stop.
The incident made the officers to fired gunshots at the driver’s car, unfortunately, one of the stray bullets landed on the yet-to-be-identified mother of four, killing her on the spot.
The car driver also sustained a gunshot wound. The security officers then abandoned the victims and drown Joshua’s car away.
The tragic incident was shared on Facebook by an activist, Harrison Gwamnishu who vowed to lead a protest in Asaba today, December 23, to demand justice for the victims.
He wrote on facebook:
They were set up few weeks ago by Delta State Governor to fight crime. They ended up killing an innocent unarmed mother of four and shooting a young man.
After the shooting, they abandoned them and drove the young man’s car away #RobbersInUniform
