Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United has been named the Premier League’s Player of the Month for September.
The 36-year-old beat Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah to the award.
On his second United debut, Ronaldo scored twice in a 4-1 victory over Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
In a 2-1 win over West Ham, he also found the back of the net.
Ronaldo, on the other hand, was unable to prevent United from losing 1-0 to Barcelona at the end of September.
Salah equaled Ronaldo’s record of three Premier League goals in Liverpool’s three games last month.
Other contenders for the prize might have been Andros Townsend, who scored in Everton wins against Burnley and Norwich; and Allan Saint-Maximin, who has been a leading light for Newcastle despite them failing to win a game.
Ronaldo claimed the Player of the Month prize four times during his first spell with United before leaving for Real Madrid.
