Police Operatives Arrests 14 Suspected Internet Fraudsters In Niger State

Police arrests suspected internet fraudsters who defraud their victims through fake Bitcoin investment chat.

The suspects were arrested by the Police Operatives attached to Tundun-Wada Division following an credible information.

The police identified the suspects as Amos Sheriff 27yrs, Omokhafe Nelson 28yrs, Amos Suleiman 23yrs, Uduafemhi John 23yrs, Sado Anthony 26yrs, Okumagbe Sheriff 24yrs, Chukwu Joshua 23yrs.

Others are Peter Moses 25yrs, Abdulrasheed Malik 24yrs, Isah Lawal 24yrs, Thomas Marvelous 19yrs, Aigbona Gift ‘f’ 24yrs all of Edo State, Thomas Daniel 24yrs, Braise Williams ‘f’ 24yrs, both of Kogi State.

The suspects were arrested at Farm Center area of Minna when Thomas Daniel allegedly stole a phone from Amos Sheriff’s home after a visit, while an alarm was raised and he was arrested.

Preliminary investigation revealed that both Omokhafe Nelson and Amos Sheriff jointly rented a two flat apartment at the rate of N2.5m where about twelve of the suspects live and converge with their friends.

During interrogation, Sheriff and Nelson confessed to have engaged in internet fraud since year 2019 and embarked on coaching/training nine other suspects for same exercise, they further confessed to have realized over twelve million naira from different victims through fake Bitcoin investment chat.

Part of the proceeds were used to pay for the house rent, established a boutique valued about four million naira which is being managed by Aigbona Gift and bought a Lexus RX 350 at the rate of N3.8m which they had an accident with, on 25th December, 2020 at Edo State.

Items recovered include; Three iPhones, One HP laptop, Six Tecno phones, Eleven laptop chargers, Shisha box containing smoking gadgets.
