The Ogun Police Command announced on Sunday that it had apprehended a suspected armed robber, Isikilu Moses, while conducting an operation in the Joju area of Sango-Ota.
DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said in a statement to newsmen in Ota, Ogun, that the suspect was apprehended on April 8.
Oyeyemi stated that the culprit was apprehended after a distress call was received at the Sango-Ota Divisional Headquarters.
According to the PPRO, armed bandits had stormed Adebeshi Street, off Joju Road, and robbed residents of the community of their valuables.
“Upon the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Sango-Ota Division, SP Saleh Dahiru, quickly moblised his patrol team and moved to the scene.
“On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums took to their heels, but they were hotly chased, and one of the suspects named Isikilu Moses, was apprehended.
“Recovered from the suspect are one locally-made pistol and two mobile phones belonging to their victims,” he said.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for investigation.
