Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has denounced the deaths of more than 100 persons in Plateau State and more than 20 people in Benue State.
The killing was termed as awful and reprehensible by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice presidential candidate for 2019.
Obi stated that the scale of the deaths calls the government’s obligation to protect lives and property into doubt.
“Nigeria must stop being a killing ground.” “These are human individuals and loved ones of many families,” he said Wednesday night in a statement.
“As a country, we cannot remain indifferent to the continued bloodletting and targeting of our society’s most vulnerable and weakest members,” he added.
He stated that such security measures must be proactive and comprehensive, particularly in locations near ungoverned rural and urban groups.
