Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed shock at the death of Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, the Olubadan of Ibadan land.
Freshreporters News recalled that the monarch died at the age of 93 .
After the death of Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade in March 2016, he ascended the throne during the administration of the immediate past governor, late Abiola Ajimobi.
The monarch passed away early Sunday morning.
Adetunji is from Ibadan’s Popoyemoja neighbourhood.
Makinde described the monarch as an exemplar in royalty in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa.
The monarch, according to the governor, is a great leader of his people.
Makinde went on to say that his wisdom and wealth of experience would be greatly missed.
Makinde said, “The news of the death of our father, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I, came as a shock.
“Kabiyesi’s exit at this time is painful, to say the least. His wealth of experience, his immense wisdom and his commitment to seeing a greater Ibadan and a better Oyo State are unrivalled.
“Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria and humanity at large will miss Kabiyesi, who was ever ready to give his all to see a better society”
