The 7 years imprisonment handed to former people Democratic Party’s spokesperson, Olisa Metuh by the federal high court in Abuja has been overturned.
The appeal court while delivering it’s judgement on Wednesday, December 16 held that there was bias in the federal high court’s judgement delivered by Justice Okon Abang.
EFCC had arraigned Metuh on charges for allegedly laundering the sum of N400m during his tenure as PDP former spokesperson in the reign of Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
The commission had charged him of receiving N400 million from the office of the national security adviser.
The judge who held that Metuh should have known that the money he received was the proceeds of crime pronounced him guilty on all counts of money laundering and sentenced him to seven years in prison on February 25, 2020.
