NURTW Chairman Kunle Poly further remanded for alleged murder

On Monday, a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State remanded Azeez Lawal, Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Lagos Island Branch B, in custody for suspected murder.

Lawal (alias Kunle Poly), 48, is accused with conspiracy to commit murder, murder, and participation in an unlawful society.

He is on trial with Adekanbi Wahab, a 38-year-old man.

They were remanded in the Ikoyi Custodial Centre in Lagos State by Chief Magistrate Linda Balogun.

Despite the fact that the charges were read to the defendants, no pleas were accepted.

Balogun ordered that they be remanded in custody for another 30 days seeking advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution.

Balogun granted the further remand when the prosecutor, Mr Morufu Animashaun, of the State Criminal Investigation Department, requested it.

Balogun held that there was merit in the application.
