NIMC Increases NIN Date of Birth correction fee to ₦28,850 from ₦16,340

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced new prices for its services, including data modifications on the National Identification Number (NIN) database, citing inflation and the need to align with operational costs.

Under the revised pricing, correcting a date of birth now costs N28,574—a 75% increase from the previous fee of N16,340. Modifications to other personal data fields such as names or addresses now cost N2,000, up from N1,522, reflecting a 31% hike.

Re-issuance of the NIN slip has also been adjusted, rising from N500 to N600. However, the initial enrollment and issuance of a NIN remain free.

For Premium Enrollment Services—available at licensed lounges, visa processing centers, and through pre-booked appointments—VIP enrollment now costs N20,000, while VIP NIN slip re-issuance is N3,500.

The new fees also apply to Nigerians in the diaspora. In African countries, adult enrollment is $50, and $30 for children. NIN re-issuance is $6. Modifying the date of birth costs $55, while other data fields cost $10.

Outside Africa, name corrections now cost $60, and other modifications remain $10.

NIMC explained that the price hike follows a decade without adjustments and was influenced by rising inflation (currently at 32.70%), expanded service offerings, and a broader push for revenue generation and self-sustainability. The Commission said it also benchmarked its pricing against similar services offered by agencies like the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Federal Road Safety Corps.
