Nigerian Nurse Jailed For Sexually Abusing Patients In US

A Nigerian nurse who worked in the United States was sentenced to prison for sexually abusing patients.
After pleading guilty to sexually abusing patients, Godbless Uwadiegwu, a former nurse aide, was sentenced to three years in prison by a US court on Tuesday, December 28.

Traditions of Deerfield and Otterbein SeniorLife in Maineville were both accused of having sexual contact with the 59-year-old.

Uwadiegwu, who pleaded guilty to two felony counts of gross sexual imposition in November, had previously been charged with three counts of rape and three counts of gross sexual imposition. As part of the plea agreement, the rape charges and one of the gross sexual imposition counts were dropped.

Prosecutors demanded the maximum penalty. His lawyer, on the other hand, failed to persuade the court that Uwadiegwu was not a repeat offender and only posed a “moderate risk.”

He will be required to register as a Tier I sex offender for at least 15 years in addition to being sentenced to prison.

In the meantime, Uwadiegwu is facing charges stemming from two alleged incidents in Butler County, one in Hamilton in September 2018 and the other in Middletown in December 2013.

In November, he was charged with rape, two counts of gross sexual imposition, sexual battery, and unlawful restraint by a Butler County grand jury.
