Several bandits who had gathered at Auta’s house for his burial were also hit by the subsequent bombardment.

Following airstrikes, according to a police official, targeted fleeing gang members and those sheltering beneath trees.

“The whereabouts of other notorious bandits like Alhaji Nashama, Shingi and Halilu, either incapacitated or on the run, remain unknown.”

He went on to say that the operation demonstrated the Armed Forces’ and other security services’ determination to put an end to the insurgency.
