The President-General of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Sultan of Sokoto, Dr. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar had on 27 Dec said that Muslims in the country would not be provoked to take up arms.
Sultan Abubakar made this statement in the light of some media misrepresentation of Islam and discrimination against Muslims, especially the denial of women to wear hijab by some schools and government agencies.
The statement does not sit well with many Christians, as the Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode warned that if Christians are provoked into taking up arms, the country will burn
The warning came from the former minister while reacting to the statement of Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar that Muslims in the country won’t be provoked into carrying arms.
Taking to his twitter handle, the Minister wrote;
Muslims won’t be provoked to take arms”-Sultan of Sokoto
If Christians had decided to take up arms & retaliate against the violence, aggression & provocation that we have been subjected to over the years, Nigeria would have burnt to ashes by now. Ours is a peaceful struggle
