Blessing Okagbare, a Nigerian sprinter, responded on Saturday to the ten-year punishment she received for several violations of anti-doping laws.
The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced Okagbare’s suspension on Friday.
According to a statement from the International Olympic Committee, Okagbare’s “usage of numerous banned drugs” was “part of an organized doping program in the lead-up to the Tokyo Olympic Games.”

In response, the 33-year-old stated her attorneys are examining AIU’s statement for her next course of action in a message on her official Twitter profile.
She wrote, “My attention has been drawn to the statement issued by the AIU regarding its disciplinary panel decision.
“My lawyers are currently studying it for our next line of action which we will inform you soon.”
