Nigeria has been declared free of wild polio, by the World Health Organisation, WHO, following the completion of its documentation for the free status.
This was made known in a tweet by UN health agency, via its regional office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, official twitter account on Thursday.
According to the agency, Nigeria’s complete documentation for the wild polio virus-free status was accepted by the Africa Regional Certification Commission for polio eradication (ARCC).
The tweet reads;
Today, Nigeria’s complete documentation for Wild Polio virus-free status was accepted by the Africa Regional Certification Commission for polio eradication (ARCC).
It is a historic day for Nigeria, Africa, and the Global Polio Programme
