Injured Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, has undergone successful surgery on his left knee which he injured in the friendly against Brazil.
The young goalkeeper fractured his knee while representing Nigeria in an international friendly that was played in Singapore last month.
The Depotivo La Coruna shot-stopper who is on loan at Omonia FC in Cyprus landed awkwardly on his knee after contesting for a ball in the air during the 1-1 draw with Brazil.
With the initial scan that was carried out suggesting that the 20-year-old might be out for up to six months, he has now gone under the knife and will be hoping to return before that timeline.
Uzoho shared the news of his successful surgery on his Instagram page with a photo of him on the hospital bed.
And it was a success, I’m grateful to Every Prayer and Good wishes Said, Even the hidden Prayers said on My Behalf… I’m deeply grateful. Now let the Healing Begin. IN CHRIST ALONE
The Super Eagles official handle has also wished the big man a speedy recovery.
In Uzoho’s absence, Daniel Akpeyi was given an invite back to the team by Gernot Rohr, who also handed him the starters shirt on Wednesday in the 2-1 win against Benin Republic in Nigeria’s first game of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
The Super Eagles’ next game is against Lesotho, who grabbed a 1-1 draw away from home in their opening game against Sierra Leone.
