N0torious G¥nmen K!idnap 11 Passengers, Including Students On Enugu-Abakaliki highway

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped 11 passengers on the Amechi-Idodo axis of the Enugu-Abakaliki highway. Reports noted that area has become one of the notorious for such incidents in recent times.

Among the victims that were kidnapped include students from tertiary institutions who were travelling in a commercial bus from Awka, Anambra, to Abakaliki, the capital city of state.

The abduction occurred on Wednesday when the hoodlums intercepted the bus at the Amechi-Idodo area in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu.

The location has recently become a hotspot for kidnappings. A relative of one of the victims revealed that the kidnappers have contacted the family, demanding a ransom of N30 million.

Ebonyi Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, stated that the command is actively working to address the situation.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Augustina Ogbodo, is collaborating with her Enugu State counterpart, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, to combat the surge in kidnappings along this stretch of the highway.

In response to the growing insecurity in the area, Punch reports that the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has directed security agencies to intensify efforts to eradicate criminal activities terrorizing the region. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
