Following the abduction of 317 students from Government Girls Science Secondary School, Jangebe in Zamfara state, the Inspector- General of Police , Mohammed Adamu, has dispatched two helicopters and operatives for the rescue of the victims.
It was reported on Friday, February 26 that suspected bandits in Hilux vehicles and a number of motorcycles had kidnapped the victims to an unknown location.
However, the police boss also revealed that the military, police and the Department of State Services operatives have commenced a coordinated search towards the rescue of the schoolgirls.

Adamu said this in a statement issued by the Nigerian police spokesman, Frank Mba.
Mba said:
The rescue operation involves the deployment of both ground and aerial assets, aimed at locating and rescuing the students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Range, Zamfara State abducted in the early hours of Friday, February 26 , 2021.”
“To ensure the success of the ongoing operation, the Inspector-General of Police , M .A . Adamu , has ordered the immediate deployment of two operational surveillance helicopters in Zamfara State.”
While condemning the incident, the IG gave the assurance that “the police and other security forces will not relent until the abducted pupils are successfully rescued and reunited with their families.”
In another development, reports has it that seven out of the 317 schoolgirls has escape from their abductors.
According to reports, a source in the community confirmed that the girls returned home from their captors on Friday evening, February 26.
The source said they claimed they maneuvered their way back from the bandits while trekking along the forest.
