Michael Jackson sent to prison for internet fraud

Michael Jackson, a citizen of Nigeria, was sentenced to jail for internet fraud by the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Jackson was apprehended in January and is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to the anti-graft agency, he pretended to be Ella Ellywood, a transgender lady, in order to defraud victims out of millions of Naira.

At the time of his arrest, Jackson, a Disc Jockey (DJ), was in possession of fetish objects “for grace and prosperity.”

After pleading guilty to a single count of impersonation, Justice Tijani Ringim sentenced him to three months in jail.

The crime breached Section 22(2)(b) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, and Punishment) Act of 2015.
