Man sentenced to prison for abducting, defiling minor

On Tuesday, an Upper Area Court in Gwagwalada, FCT, sentenced a 22-year-old fashion designer, Kelvin Moses, to three years in jail for kidnapping and defiling a 14-year-old girl.

Moses, who resides in Gwagwalada, FCT, was accused with kidnapping.

After expressing sorrow for his actions and pleading for forgiveness, Judge Sani Umar condemned the defendant without the option of a fee.

“I am sentencing you without any option of fine since you have confessed to have impregnated her elder sister earlier and also had carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl.

“You have also infected her with a disease that was not treated which has resulted in her abandoning school and staying at home,” he held.

Umar stated that the sentence will operate as a deterrence to anyone who would do such an act.

Earlier, Prosecution Counsel Abudulahi Tanko told the court that the complainant, Janet Isaac, reported the incident to the Gwagwalada police station on January 6.

Tanko said that the felon defiled the complainant’s 14-year-old granddaughter at his home.

He claimed that the offense violated Section 272 of the Penal Code.
