The clerk of the court explained that the accused had on 2nd December, 2019, at Peta community of Kwayakusar local government area of Borno State, flogged his daughter and inflicted severe body injuries on her.
Consequently, the daughter was rushed to the hospital in the area where she later died.
The charge reads;
That you Mohammed Haruna on the 2nd December, 2019, at Peta community of Kwayakusar local government area of Borno State, committed culpable homicide punishable with death under section 221 of the Penal Code, by flogging your daughter and inflicted severe body injury on her which resulted to her death.
However, Mohammed pleaded not guilty.
In her ruling, the trial Judge, Justice Aisha Kumalia, following the plea of not guilty and culpable homicide not being a bailable offence, adjourned the case to 26th and 27th of April for trial.
