Man in court for allegedly stealing 3 fans

Samuel Abajuo, 29, appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday for allegedly stealing three standing fans worth N63,000.

Abajuo, whose address was not supplied, is accused of theft and has pled not guilty to the accusation.

The defendant committed the act on November 22 at Oshodi Transport Interchange, Terminal 3, Lagos, according to the prosecutor, ASP Josephine Ikhayere.

The defendant, according to Ikhayere, took the fans from a bus that he was instructed to wash at a car wash where he works.

He said the offense was in violation of Section 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.

According to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), theft under this law carries a three-year sentence.

Mrs O.M. Joseph, the Magistrate, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in the same amount.
