A 22-year-old man, Atofarati Bola, was on Monday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged housebreaking and stealing.
Bola, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of housebreaking and stealing.
The police prosecutor, Insp Johnson Okunade, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb.17, at about 11:00 a.m, at Fiyinfolu Area in Ado-Ekiti.
Okunade alleged that the defendant broke into the house of one Bukola Faeji.
He alleged that the defendant stole one Samsung Galaxy A30 valued at N90,000 and Tecno POP 2F valued at N25,000.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 411(1) and 390(9) of the criminal code, laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Mrs Funmilayo Akinwumi, urged the court to grant her client bail and promised that the defendant would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Michael Faola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until March 28 for hearing
