The Lagos APC Committee of Caretakers reaffirmed that the State executives will be able to reach consensus at the next State Congress on 2 October.
This statement was given on Thursday by the State party spokesperson Seye Oladejo.
During the 31 July and 4 September Ward and the congresses of the local government the ruling party took the consensus option of producing their leaders.
In the forthcoming elections to the state congress, Mr Oladejo explained that the consensus arrangements would be repeated to reduce acrimonia in a party by electing its officials.
“The national headquarters has advised the state chapter to consider consensus arrangement for the state congress as well, which I believe will be adopted for the national convention,” stated Mr Oladejo. “I am sure you are also aware that the party constitution allows for the consensus candidate option to save cost.”
According to him, the party had “resolved and directed officers of our party” at all levels to engage in dialogue that would lead to the reconciliation of aggrieved APC members.
“This is in order to ensure that all opinions are accommodated, and all members who are willing to serve the party are given positions in the various executive bodies at the ward, local and state levels,” he added.
The APC Lagos chairman, Babatunde Balogun, also assured members of the party’s readiness to ensure a hitch-free exercise on October 2.
The chairman explained that the party’s national leadership had made appropriate arrangements to ensure the success of the exercise.
