Moses Sunday, a 28-year-old laborer, was sentenced to 30 months in jail by an Upper Area Court in Jos on Tuesday for stealing N100,000.
On Sunday, he was sentenced by a panel of two Magistrates after pleading guilty to three counts of conspiracy, breaking, and stealing.
Mr Adams Galadima and Malam Ishaq Danjuma, who delivered the verdict, offered Sunday the option of paying a N30,000 fine.

The panel also directed the prisoner to pay N30,000 in restitution to the standard plaintiff.
Earlier, Prosecution Counsel Ijuptil Thawur informed the court that the matter was reported on December 29, 2021 at the Rantya Police Station by one Umar Maiyaki, the complainant.
According to the prosecutor, the prisoner planned with two individuals still at large to break into the complainant’s residence and steal N100,000 in cash.
The prosecutor said that the offence is punishable under the provisions of sections 59, 336 and 272 of the Plateau Penal Code law
