The governor of Niger state, Abubakar Sani-Bello said the 27 students who were abducted on Wednesday, February 17 when armed men raided a state-run school in Niger State, has not been released.
The governor made the clarity following reports that the 27 students and 3 teachers abducted at Government Science College, Kagara were released.
According to the governor the government was in last stage of negotiations with the bandits, promising the victims would be released soon.
However, Prominent Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi, on Thursday led the Secretary to the Niger Statwe Government, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, and security operatives to a meeting with some suspected bandits in the state.
It was gathered that the delegation met with the armed men in Tegina forest, a border town between Niger and Kaduna states.
