On Saturday, the Katsina State Police Command announced it had killed one bandit and recovered 50 rustled cows.
The rustled cows were alleged to belong to Alhaji Ibrahim Maikudi of Gago village, Dutsinma LGA.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, stated in a statement that around 10 a.m., the command got a distress call claiming roughly 40 terrorists were attacking the village and were preparing to rustle cows.
According to him, the Region Commander in charge of Dutsinma dispatched agents to the area and engaged the bandits in a gun fight, resulting in the death of one bandit and the repulse of others.
According to him, the terrorists abandoned their operation and escaped with gunshot wounds, just as the operatives collected one AK47 rifle.
He further disclosed that the operatives were still combing the bush in search of the fleeing bandits.
“In another development, the police in Katsina have rescued 15 victims of human trafficking at Baraji Quarters, Daura LGA, who were being conveyed to Niger Republic, and possibly from there to Libya,” he said
