President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate reopening of Seme border in South West, Maigatari and Ilela borders in North West and Mfun borders in South-South
The president also ordered that the remaining borders should be reopened before the end of December 31.
The president’s order was made public in Abuja by the Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed.
The minister said this at the end of the virtual Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
However, the minister said restriction on the importation of some commodities, like rice and other products including poultry would however continue.
The Nigeria’s borders closed since October 14, 2019 which prevented the import of goods and mainly an attempt to control the smuggling of weapons and drugs.
