Jonathan Arrives Mali With ECOWAS Delegation
A delegation of West African leaders headed by former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has arrived in the Malian capital, Bamako.
The Nigerian former president with other delegates are on a mission to restore order after a military coup.
The delegation was set up by the Economic Community of West African State following the political crisis rocking Mali and President Ibrahim Keita’s resignation.
Dr. Jonathan, who is ECOWAS Special Envoy to Mali, had visited Mali in July to mediate on the crisis.
Another ECOWAS delegation, including current Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, also visited the country for discussions on restoring peace in the country, but the talks did not yield results.
This is coming few days after Jonathan brief President Muhammadu Buhari on the political situation in Mali.
