On Sunday, December 19, a family in Lagos state has been looking for their two-year-old son, Praise Otojareri, who was allegedly abducted by their house help, simply identified as Favour.
Mr. Moses Otojareri, the missing boy’s father, told LIB that sometime in November, a man and his wife knew came to their house in Aguda, Surulere, with two girls and said they needed a job. He said his wife, who runs a salon, decided to hire Favour to look after their two children, a nine-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son.
His wife left the church and told Favour to come to the shop with their two children after the service ended, he said.
Favor went to the children’s church right after his wife left, Mr. Otojareri said, and asked the teachers to release Praise to her. Praise was given to Favor by the teacher who had seen the baby boy come to church with his mother.
After waiting for hours and not seeing them in her shop, the father said his wife became concerned. A call came in after a few hours
“Are you Mummy Favour and Praise?”
Favour is her housemaid, and Praise is her son, she said, adding that she has been looking for them for several hours. The man stated that they are in Ibafor, Mowe, and that Favour stated that she had lost her way on her way to her sister’s house in Ikotun.
”He said Mr. Otojareri said his wife told the adults who called to help her hold Favour and her son that she was on her way to meet with them. He said his wife asked them to drop Favour and her son Praise off at the nearest police station after the adults informed her they were still going to a further distance. ”
According to the distraught father, Alfa took the children to a mosque and then decided to pray. He claimed that the Alfa later told his wife that after his prayers, he returned to his mosque and did not see Favor and Praise.
He claimed he only saw Favour’s bag, which contained Praises’ clothes. Mr. Otokareri claimed that when his wife arrived at the mosque, she raised an alarm and called the police. Alfa was apprehended.
She also took the cops to the sister’s house, which Favor claimed she was going to see. The sister, who denied having any family ties to Favour, was also detained.
He added that the matter had been reported to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department and that no word from Favour or his son had been received as of today.
Favour, who is about 14 years old, speaks Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, and Benue Republic fluently, according to him.
He stated that Favour is from Imo State. He asked anyone with information about his child’s whereabouts to call this number: 07082873611 or contact the nearest police station.
