Augustine Eguavoen, the coach of the Super Eagles, has named Innocent Bonke, a midfielder based in France, to replace the injured Wifred Ndidi in his roster for the World Cup playoff against Ghana.
Ndidi will miss both matches against the Black Stars after suffering a knee injury in Leicester City’s 2-1 Europa Conference League round of 16 loss to Rennes on Thursday.
Brendan Rodgers, manager of Leicester City, acknowledged Ndidi’s position, stating that the Nigeria international might be out for three weeks.

This means that the defensive midfielder will miss the two-legged encounter against Ghana, but Bonke has stepped in to fill the vacuum.
Bonke’s last game for the Super Eagles was against Central African Republic in a World Cup qualifier back in October 2021.
He has, however, played in each of Lorient’s last seven matches in the French Ligue 1.
“Camp update: Innocent Bonke has been called up as replacement for injured @Ndidi25 for the #WCQ games against #Ghana. Get well quick Wilf,” a tweet on Super Eagles official Twitter handle reads.
