Fuel scarcity: Workers, travellers stranded in Kaduna

On Monday, fuel scarcity slammed Kaduna State even harder, leaving workers, merchants, and travelers stuck at several bus stations and garages in Kaduna and its surrounds.

According to the reporters, the roadways have been empty, leaving only pedestrians.

Several filling stations were closed, and a long line of automobiles waited for petrol to arrive.

A litre of petrol, which cost N1,000 Naira yesterday (Sunday), now costs N1500 on the underground market.

Despite the fact that the Kaduna State government has prohibited the sale of petrol in Jerricans, automobile owners have been turning to the illicit market since the state’s crisis struck.

“Some bus drivers drove pass us, saying they were looking for fuel, others were going to queue for fuel at filling stations.”

“Some passengers have returned to their various homes. After staying for several hours, a passenger taxi came, and asked us to pay N5000. I cannot afford it. I am going back to my house,” he said.
