Fifty-three youth reportedly involved in thuggery in Minna metropolis have been remanded in the New Bussa, Borgu Local Government Area Correctional Center on the orders of a Minna Magistrate Court one in the state.
It would be recalled that the police, on Monday, paraded 32 suspects involved in the youth crisis that claimed two lives and another 28 suspects on Tuesday.
A police report indicated that the suspects were arrested by a team of security agents and arraigned before the court on ten counts.
The charges include culpable homicide, conspiracy, robbery and being in procession of dangerous weapons among others.
The offences violated various section of the penal code law of the country
However, during the sitting, the Prosecuting Police Officer, Inspector Ahmed Saidu told the court that the offence is criminal in nature and cannot be tried by the magistrate.
Saidu prayed the court to adjourn the matter to another date to enable the police forward the case file to the state ministry for justice for legal advice on the matter.
Presiding Magistrate, Nasir Mu’azu after careful examination of the nature of the case, condemned the act and adjourned it to the 21st of February for further hearing.
Magistrate Mu’azu then directed the police to immediately forward the case file to the ministry for Justice for proper prosecution.
