Ralf Rangnick, the club’s interim manager, has overturned a transfer decision made by former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.
Diogo Dalot, a Manchester United defender, appeared surplus to requirements at Old Trafford under Solskjaer, trailing Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the battle for the starting right-back spot.
Last season, the Portuguese international spent time on loan at AC Milan in order to acquire regular playing experience, and he was expected to return this season.
Rangnick had identified Dalot as his starter in the early stages of his employment, according to sources in Corriere Dello Sport via Sport Witness, but a transfer for the player is no longer inevitable.
Dalot has played every Premier League minute since the change of manager and Wan-Bissaka now appears as the man fighting for minutes.
Meanwhile, Man United will face Brentford in a Premier League tie on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils currently sit in the fifth position on the Premier League table with 27 points from 16 games.
