El-rufai Gives Reason Why Boko Haram, Bandits Are Treated Different From Kanu And Igboho

The Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has reacted to the recent arrest of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu and the raid on the residence of Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho.

El-rufai gave reasons why Boko Haram insurgents and bandits are different from the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The governor said the reason is that Boko Haram and bandits do not have a recognised and centralised leadership.

El-Rufai was responding to questions from Nigerians on why bandits and terrorists in the North were not treated the same way agitators in the south are treated.

While speaking to BBC Pidgin on Friday, El-Rufai said Kanu is a visible and central leader who has called for the dissolution of Nigeria.

El-Rufai said:

“I was very happy when Nnamdi Kanu was arrested) because, first he jumped bail, jeopardising his sureties.”
