Willie Obiano, the embalmed former governor of Anambra State, has finally been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC.
The immediate former governor, who was apprehended by the anti-graft agency only hours after handing over power to the current governor, Charles Soludo, was granted administrative bail on Wednesday evening.
According to the Daily Trust, the EFCC took Obiano’s passport as part of his bail term.
Efforts by reporters to reach the Commission for comment on the situation were futile, as the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, was unable to react to a text message provided to him at the time of publication.
Obiano was apprehended on Thursday at the Lagos Airport on his route to the United States of America.

The EFCC spokesman had told our correspondent that Obiano was on their watch list prior to his arrest.
The former governor was subsequently transferred to the headquarters of the commission, where he was quizzed for days over alleged mismanagement of N5 billion Sure-P money, N37 billion security vote, withdrawn in cash, as well as some inflated contracts.
