Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, was impeached on Monday.
Following many claims of egregious misbehavior and abuse of authority, Emeziem was replaced by Kennedy Ibe during today’s House plenary session.
The former Speaker was impeached after a unanimous decision by 19 out of 27 members of the House of Representatives in a signed letter read on the floor of the House accusing him of severe misconduct and abuse of authority.
Ibeh, who represents the Obowo State Constituency, was sworn in as Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly almost immediately.
