Court jailed Abuja teenage for stealing spaghetti, noodles

Hillary Yunana, a 19-year-old student from the Gwagwalada area council, was sentenced to four months in jail by an Abuja Upper Area Court on Thursday for stealing spaghetti and noodles from a business.

The inmate, a resident of Bassa village on Abuja’s Airport Road, was charged with burglary and stealing.

Sani Umar, the judge, sentenced Yunana to prison after he pled guilty to the crime.

Umar, on the other hand, granted the prisoner the choice of paying N10,000 for each of the charges or serving a two-month imprisonment term for each of them.

He stated that the sentence will be served consecutively and admonished Yunana not to commit crimes in the future.

The judge said the sentence would serve as a deterrent to anyone who wanted to tow the depraved path in the future.
