Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, the Minister of Police Affairs, says President Muhammadu Buhari will make the final decision on DCP Abba Kyari’s involvement in an international money laundering scheme.
Mr Kyari is the former head of the Special Police Crimes Unit.
“What Nigerians need to know is that the police agencies have done their job properly and have done everything clearly. All that remains now is for President Muhammadu Buhari to decide the course of action to be taken on the matter,” Mr Dingyadi said in an interview with Channels TV on Tuesday.
Mr Dingyadi added that the report and recommendations of the Committee had been forwarded to the Justice Minister. It is submitted before a final action is taken to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In August, the Federation’s attorney general Abubakar Malami indicated that due process in the extradition process of Mr Kyari would be followed and the courts decided.
Earlier in the FBI, Peoples Gazette reported on Mr Kyari’s multimillions of dollars fraud against Ramon ‘Hushpuppi’ Abbas, notorious Internet fraude, and the U.S. court ordering Mr Kyari’s arrest.
Mr. Kyari rejected his involvement in the scheme, saying he had collected money to help Hushpuppi sew certain clothes and later, in his Facebook post which has since been deleted, he was acting as a Hushpuppi debt collector.
Mr Kyari has been suspended and replaced by the Nigerian police.
